The SPHTC's mission is to:

build state and regional capacity for workforce development
-
share best practices locally, regionally and nationally
-
support and enhance regional collaboration and
-
respond to requests from state and local health departments for training.
Fourteen Public Health Training Centers across the United States have been funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to strengthen the core competencies and capabilities of the current and future public health workforce," particularly in under-served areas. The core competencies are critical to the delivery of the 10 essential services and are the foundation on which preparedness competencies are built. These 14 centers comprise the National Network of Public Health Training Centers.
